Update: It's with bitterwseet memories that I advise anyone who might still see this that my game time will run out on 9/1/11, at which point I won't play anymore. Time is the biggest factor in that decision, closely followed by what I'd previously posted. I'd rather not leave people adrift in a guild with no leadership (I'm still wanting to keep ownership of Sanctuary in case my son and /or I decide to jump back in), so there's an in-game list of active guilds that have at least one former Sanctuary member (that I know of) that you might like to check out. I still hope and pray that any of you that may read this have a great in and out of game experience.
Sanctuary is closed until further notice. Why, you ask? :)
I had two main reasons for starting this guild: 1) I wanted a digital home where my son and I could play WOW and where I could directly influence the culture and rules of the guild, and 2) several former guildmates from the Stormwind Justicars and I though it would be good to start a new guild and gather in our disparate members.
My son, as of several weeks ago, has stopped playing WOW. He really wasn't playing much before stopping, so this was more of an official annoucnement of his declining gamelplay. :) Most of the original members of the guild have either stopped playing or have moved on to other servers. We also had a mass exodus from the guild about two months ago (after some interesting guild drama!), and we were slowly bleeding members since our roster was slowly declining.
Because of all of this the guild is closed down. Existing members are more than welcome to stay in. I have all but four (4) of my characters still in the guild, so I'll be stopping in to play those toons. However, I won't be recruiting or setting up any guild events; those who are staying can take advantage of the guild perks to solo level or (very rarely) group up with someone else who is online in the guild as well.
I hope and pray that everyone who was or is part of Sanctuary continues to have a great WOW experience and a great life in general. I hope to continue to see y'all in game :)
Blessings & Peace,

Well as the post says we are recruiting. We are looking for healers and tank, but will accept DPS. We are trying to establish a core raiding group. Raid times are from 7-10pm server. If interested Fill out an app.

This is your Infamous Cy talking here. The direction i would like to take this guild is into raiding. We are not going to be a hardcore raiding guild. But i know we are needing some new people/toons to replace the ones we have lost that played pivatol roles. I'm looking for all roles and professions for the guild. The same guild rules still apply. I would like to get a set schedule for raids. Any comments would be greatly appreciated....And please spread the word that we are recruiting. Thank you for your time and efforts.

So . . . . I will be relinquising my role as Guild Leader for Sanctuary. Since January my work time has expanded, primarily because I'm teaching evening classes once a week for our Diocese, and another evening class in my home. My school/ministry duties have expanded a bit as well, so most nights of the week I have something to work on at home, and the last several weekends I've had events to either host or chaperone, too. I haven't been on much since January, and I haven't placed much effort into leading the guild (apart from keeping the bank and roster tidy!), and I believe that the guild is better served by having a GL who can devote time and energy to keeping the guild vital and growing. I'll transfer leadership over by next weekend at the latest. On a side note, my son (Terminatr) will be taking an extended break from WOW as he focuses on his school work for this last part of 8th grade as well.
Thanks so much for those of you who have been part of my WOW community for the last several years (or months). I still want to keep playing, but it will probably be with reduced time until summer hits.
Blessings & Peace,

One player's Guide to Cata...
Cata has been out for little more than a month and I would like to do a quick review of one way you can rise through the ranks and ready yourself for heroics.
The first step out of WoTLK, is to hit the starting areas and quest. Questing can be tough and sometimes monotonous but you gain a few benefits from completing ALL the quests in a zone. You gain XP, achievements, rep and new gear. All of these are important obviously.
Go through each zone methodically, completing all of the quests because in doing so, you are earning rep. Rep is going to get you Epic gear and item enchants which is what will prepare you for regs.
BTW-Ana, our fearless leader, has posted a flow map with which you can use to help level and know which zones to go to next.
IMO, dungeons can wait until you have at least completed all the zones through twilight. You dont have to be exalted with any factions, but the gear you gain by questing will provide you the means to start running those dungeons. THEN, you queue up. I ran with PUGS and continue to do so if no guildies are available. You should too. Use the atlas loot add on to track what pieces you need and run specific dungeons to get those pieces. WHILE YOU RUN REGS LIKE CRAZY, HAVE A TABARD EQUIPPED. you can get tabards from each of the zones Quartermaster. You want to have one equipped so that you are earning rep with that zones factions. Once you reach exalted, you gain access to epic gear and armor enchants which is extremely important in preparing you for Heroics.
I have found that if you are revered with a faction, it takes roughly about 18-24 reg runs to gain exalted with a faction. USE THAT. One of the single most controllable gearing methods in your power is to gain exalted with factions, and it shouldn't be a hassle for you, because you are running regs for gear as well.
Alright, so you can enter heroics at Item level 329. But does that mean you should? THAT DEPENDS. If you are a tank or healer.....ABSOLUTELY NOT! You will most likely wipe the group.
The only way you might be able to do this is through guild runs because everyone has a better sense of working together. CC's can be used, players can use vent,
and the teamwork becomes a important factor. IT is extremely tough though, and the simple fact is that you shouldn't have to worry about it if you are exalted with the factions, have the gear from JP points and so on...(BTW-try and have a secondary DPS spec, because you can, FOR THE MOST PART, avoid all of this by queuing for heroics in your DPS spec, wait for an hour, run a heroic, and so long as your DPS doesnt suck or your group doesnt notice...you can gain gear that way...but you will find the wait times are quite annoying for DPS.)
There are reasons for why you dont want to tank or heal in heroics at such a low item level. Most players are adjusting to the new heroics as well...and so are you. Your item level may be acceptable, but your SKILL level is not, even if you do read up on all the guides and strategies there are. IT is one thing to know the fights, but if you are squishy or your healer sucks or your tank sucks, you can have all the teamwork in the world and still wipe the group.Your best bet is to gain all the armor you can from regs and earn exalted with the factions, and then consider the following...
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE TO RUN HEROICS...(IMO)
1. Most item levels in regs max at 333. Thats good. Your target then before you decide to enter heroics is to try to get as many pieces to 333 as possible. This is not that hard for two reasons. One, the exalted status is going to earn you 359 gear from the QM. 2, your JP from the regs and WoTLK will earn you 346 gear from the QM vendors in SW. So hitting a item level over 333 shouldn't take you that long at all, relatively speaking.
2. Enchant it ALL....and BUY or MAKE armor upgrades as well. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. It is NOT required, unless you are tanking or healing, but you will see a remarkable difference in your DPS for doing it.
3. Reforge for your specs main secondary talent!!!
4. Learn your rotation NOW if you somehow havent learned it through this whole time playing.
5.READ UP ON YOUR CLASS and ON YOUR POSITION. know what to do and be patient.
6.ABOVE ALL....WORK WITH YOUR GROUP. if you are a tank...do ready checks, wait for everyone to be prepared. If you are a healer, work with the tank.
5. If you are waiting to run with guildies, and you are a tank or healer, run PUGS first to get an idea of what the boss fights are about.Ok...so you are ready to enter Heroics....what do you do?
Mentally prepare yourself for wipes. It will happen. Its ok though. They made Cata Heroics hard on purpose to foster teamwork. Go in with the mentality that it is a learning experience and if you get one piece of gear out of the whole dungeon you are doing great. In closing... Teamwork is important now for Cata Heroics, but if you are tanking or healing its not ALL you need. Having a great guild group or finding a extremely RARE PUG group is only one piece of the puzzle. Making sure you aren't squishy is the second piece. ALL OF THAT can be controlled by YOU and having the patience to run regs and gain JP and enchant and upgrade your armor and everything else. If you are DPS...the idea is to do comparable damage to help get the group through the heroics. If you are Tank or Healer, it is so important to be as highly geared as possible to ease the ones that have to depend on you. Heroic MOBS hit HARD. You will find yourself out of mana in a heart beat if you arent properly prepared or DEAD if you arent ready or know what to expect.
Hope this helps! This was the way that I progressed. Everything in here is how I rose through the ranks to be where I am at and I am still far far away from where I could be.
This guide is just one persons opinion on what to do if you are interested in gearing and running heroics and SUCCEEDING. But its only MY OPINION. Subject to debate.

Let me add something that has been of great concern and tension to everyone recently. Guild Runs....this post assumes the following...
In a perfect world, all Dungeon and Heroic Runs could be done through the guild. We could all pick a time, be available, and run dungeons together. Everyone would gear equally in the guild and the guild as a whole would benefit. Nobody would have to rely on anyone because they were better geared and things would progress smoothly. This is not how things work in reality though. The truth is, the amount of time people have to play WoW differs from person to person and the simple fact is there is not enough people in the guild on throughout the day for guild runs to be a reality ALL THE TIME. So in that case, we go with who we have at the time ASSUMING that those people aren't busy doing other things.
This guide is designed to give players the option to gear on their own when guild mates aren't around but keep in mind that running and helping out your guild will only benefit you in the end and help out the guild.

Hello Everyone, I wanted to say thank you for making me Sanctuary's next officer. I have been wanting this for a long time for many reasons.
1. So I can clean out the guild bank and make money off the items
2. So I can use my power for totally inappropriate means
3. So I can talk in officers chat and call people names without them knowing.Ok, now for the serious part. I feel I have a lot to offer guildies as an officer and would like to be available to all of you. I would love to be involved in guild decisions because I feel my opinion would really benefit the guild. But above all, because I believe in the rules and ideals that sanctuary upholds. Its what always kept me coming back to the guild.
Anywho...If anyone needs anything, let me know. I look forward to seeing this guild grow and to grow with it.
Forever and Always
